If you like architecture, urban planning or history, and you are planning to come to NY next year, I really suggest that you be aware of the the Open House New York schedule. This year was my first time attending this event, and it was awsome. I went to different kinds of tours and also, independent visits to buildings that were participating to the program. I have to say, it is impossible to attend everything because there is a long list about everything you can do. Moreover, some of them request reservations, so as soon as the registration are available you have to be quick and can't take too long to decide what you desire to do because the most interesting tours are usually sold out very quickly.
Eu fui a vários deles, e eu vou mostrar aqui alguns.
I attended to several of them, and I am going to show here a few. I also went to the extras tours (they didn't happen on the main OHNY weekend. They were the ones that I wrote about on my last post.)
- Sir Norman Foster
- Richard Rogers
- Fumihiko Maki
The first tour was at one of the WTC towers from where you could see the construction site of the others and also the WTC memorial. Inside the WTC 7 tower there was a huge office which combined 3 architects team responsible for 3 others towers. They assembled an office specially to be close to the construction site, considering that all of them have their main office abroad. And they are:
- Sir Norman Foster
- Richard Rogers
- Fumihiko Maki
The tour was well worth it just because of seeing all that workstation. I must confess that I was a little disappointed because the tour was focused on talking (I mean publicity) about the whole WTC project towers, in general, and I was expecting a little bit more construction details about the building we were in. But even though was a great experience and the view from there worth it.
Later I will post the others visits I made.
